Designed to meet Euro NCAP 2030 safety requirements, SAF8444 offloads sensor‑fusion processing to the radar chip itself, reducing dependency on centralized domain controllers. This lowers cost, heat, and system complexity while maintaining all‑weather object detection.

The chip covers 76–81GHz, supports short/medium/long‑range detection, and includes a Cortex‑A53 application core, Cortex‑M7 real‑time core, and a dedicated radar signal accelerator. Built‑in interference‑mitigation algorithms handle multi‑radar scenarios.

NXP provides a full SDK, functional safety framework, and development tools to accelerate time‑to‑market. The SAF8444 is now in pre‑production, aimed at front and corner radar applications.

ICgoodFind: NXP’s edge‑processing radar chip cuts system cost and complexity – key to widespread ADAS adoption across vehicle segments.
